Scenes from the Night

The tramp danced about the pavement in a glee that he won't share.

A lady in a grey salwar, and her skin greyer with dust, stealthily sneaked away the empty plastic bottles the lovers had left behind.

Most of tvs in the nearby high-rise now blared out songs in prepubescent voices. The new trend was for little kids to sing the lonely hearts to sleep, every night.

The few cars that traversed the half lit roads believed they could fly.

Crashing through that sound of silence, one of the flying cars rammed into a truck.

The orthopedician posted for the night duty in a nearby hospital had been praying to God for a light night.
