As the escalator swept her off the ground, she lost her balance. Tumbling awkwardly into the rather fat woman, standing next to her, she just managed a toothy grin instead of a 'sorry'. Surviving a week on heavy doses of coffee and little sleep was surely not healthy for the brain, she guessed,tipsily. The deadlines were met, her immediate future wasn't quite covered with layers of to-do lists and she looked forward to collapse into her couch without the laptop to cuddle.
In the glass walled office, looking down on the city from a whopping 230 feet, the new designation sat thickly on her desk.
Somewhen, while running too fast, making sure not to lose to the competitive world, she had lost to her inertia.
